Helpful Information about the herbs in Upper Respiratory
Amor Seco
Amor Seco is known to be rich in flavonoids, alkaloids, and soyasaponins. These components have therapeutic actions for asthma. Historically it has been used to block histamine, reduce inflammation, dilates the bronchial and block allergies.
Embauba
In herbal medicine Embauba has been used for all types of respiratory complaints. Used traditionall for its anti-inflammatory properties-typically for rheumatic, kidney and lung inflammations.
Jergon Sacha
Jergon Sacha is commonly used for upper respiratory problems including cough, bronchitis and asthma.
Licorice Root
Licorice is recommended to treat respiratory problems, helping the body produce healthy mucus. Increasing phlegm production may seem counterintuitive to a healthy bronchial system. However, the opposite is true. The production of clean, healthy phlegm keeps the respiratory system functioning without old, sticky mucus clogging it.
Lobelia
Lobelia has compounds that are known to have beneficial effects on the respiratory tract including stimulating breathing and supporting the cough reflex. Lobelia contains chemicals that might thin mucus (phlegm) to make it easier to cough up (expectorate) and thus aid in easier breathing.
Marshmallow Root
Marshmallow is sometimes used to form a protective layer on the skin and lining of the digestive tract. It also contains chemicals that might decrease cough and fight infections. Marshmallow Root has anti-inflammatory effects that work against both acute and chronic inflammation.
Mullein
Both the leaves and flowers contain mucilage, which is soothing to irritated membranes. It also has saponins, which make coughs more productive. Research has shown that the herb has strong anti-inflammatory activity, and lab studies suggest that mullein flower infusions have antiviral properties, as well.
Pleurisy Root
Pleurisy root is traditionally used to loosen bronchial secretions and is thought to be helpful against all types of respiratory infections. Expectorant herbs help loosen bronchial secretions and make elimination of mucus easier.
White Sage
Sage is an herb that has not only been used as a flavoring but also used for medicinal and health purposes. Sage (Salvia officinalis) has astringent, antiseptic, and antibacterial qualities, and this herb has a long history of use for sore throats, coughs, and mouth inflammations. The name Salvia comes from the Latin word meaning “to save,” or “to heal,” referring to sage’s ability to heal the body. It has been used medicinally for thousands of years and is still considered a useful healing plant today.

Upper Respiratory drops help cough
I've had a cough for several years as well as occasional phlegm in my throat, making it necessary to clear my throat often. About 3/4 of the way through a bottle of Upper Respiratory drops I realized that my cough was gone and I rarely had phlegm in my throat nor needed to clear my throat! What a blessing this has been! I take a dropper in my morning coffee daily.
